A1 : Get the latest Rar pack

Download and extract the latest version from Seditio
(and here only ! Any other distribution is illegal).

A2 : Upload files to your server

Upload all the files from the package to your web root.
Do not upload the folder /docs, its not required by the engine.

A3 : Allow file writing for some folders

'CHMOD 777' folders (to allow files writing, do this with your FTP client) :

/datas/defaultav/
/datas/avatars/
/datas/photos/
/datas/signatures/
/datas/thumbs/
/datas/tmp/
/datas/users/

Also CHMOD 777 the folder /datas/ itself so the installer can create the configuration file.

A4 : Create the SQL database and run the installer

Be sure you have created the MySQL database prior to running the installer.
Open your site URL with your browser, and you should see the first page of the installation tool, fill up the fields as instructed :




A5 : Create your account

Select 'login', then 'register', to create your account, and once done, log-in.
Note that the first user to register is automatically activated and assigned the group "Administrators".

A6 : Checks

In the administration panel, go to "Plugins", then "System Check", then "Install All".
Once it's done, go to "Tools", select "System Check", and verify that you have all the required file for Seditio 130.
All the boxes should be green. If not, upload the files from the package.

A7 : Clean up the installation files (optional)

Once the site is properlly up and running, you can delete these files and folders :

/system/install/...
/install.php

A8 : It's done !

In case something went wrong during the installation process, delete the file /datas/config.php (with your FTP client or you hosting panel), delete all the SQL tables with PhpMyAdmin ("Delete", not "Empty"), warning, do not delete the database itself, just delete the tables. Then re-open the home URL to relaunch the auto-installer so it can recreate a fresh configuration file and a fresh SQL database.

If after this second try the result is the same, head for the forums, there's several pinned topics about common pitfalls, issues and troubleshooting. Do not forget to tell the URL to your website so the helpers can see the problem "live".

M2 : Main configuration entries

Copy/paste the file /datas/config.default.php into /datas/config.php, and fill up parameters about your MySQL database.
Please notice that most of the request for technical support are caused by erroneous settings or typos in this area. So if get an error message saying that Seditio or PHP cannot connect to the database, first check that the host name, database name, user name and password are ok. If you have a doubt, ask your hosting provider for the correct values.

M3 : Upload files to your server

Seditio can manage an unlimited count of skins (HTML layouts), but one is usually enough.
The default skin is set in /datas/config.php, by default it's "8years".
Do not upload the folder /docs, its not required by the engine.

Since you're not using the auto-installer, you can also skip the upload of the folder /system/install/

(With the button 'Browse', point to the location of the file on your computer, then run the script with 'Go')
