First things first, creating a zone...

You will need to create a zone before you can start adding banners. To do this, just click on the link "New Zone". Let's go through the different options found when creating a new zone.
1. The title is just there to make it easier for you to remember what zone can be found where. For example, a zone placed in the footer of your website, could be called "Foot Banners".
2. Status works like an ON/ OFF switch for the zone. If there comes a time when you don't want a zone to display any banners, but still want to keep it for possible later use, just deactivate it.
3. The next step is to decide which groups will see the banners added to this zone. As an example, this could be used to restrict banners to guests, thus rewarding those who register with a banner free surfing experience.
4. The pages option is a way to tell the statistics counter where your zone is displayed. For example, if you display your zone on your front page, you would only check the box that says "Home", telling the statistics counter that the banners in this zone only are displayed on the front page.
After you have set the options to your liking, click "Create".

Adding the zone tag to your website...

Before you can see any banners on your website, you need to tell your website where they should be displayed by adding a Zone Tag.

1. If you go to the main page of Banner Rocket Light, the one that says "Zones and Banners Overview", you will notice how every zone you have created comes with an unique ID. This ID is displayed in front of the zone name like #x ( where x is the zone ID). Write this ID down, since we will need it.
2. Now comes the hard part. The part where you have to decide where to display the banners. In the following example we will place the zone tag in the footer of the website, making the banners display there. But you can put the tag anywhere you like.
- Open the file skins/xxx/footer.tpl ( where xxx is the skin you are using).
- Scroll down until you see the tag {FOOTER_DEVMODE} and after that tag you add {PHP.BRLIGHT.x} ( where x is the ID of the zone).
Now you should have something like this:



- From here on, whenever you create a new zone, you need to place a tag for it where you want the banners in that zone to be displayed.

Adding your first banner...
After creating a zone to put your banners in, you are ready to add your first banner. To do this, click on the link "New Banner".
1.The first thing you need to fill in is the title of your banner. Just write something that you think helps you remember what the banner is about, like "Joes Candy".
2. Status works just like with zones. With this option you can turn the banner ON/ OFF.
3. The expiration date is a good way to restrict how long a banner should be displayed. For example if you get payed to show a banner on your website for a couple of months, you can set it to automatically expire on the last day.
4. The next step is to choose which zone the banner belongs to. If you have followed the example described on this page, there will only be one zone to choose from.
5. The banner image URL is the address to your banner image, be it flash, gif or jpg. Remember to add http:// unless the banner is found on the same server as your website.
6. And last we have the banner click destination URL. Here you fill in the address where you want users to go when they click on the banner.
After you have set the options to your liking, click "Add".
